Metal Hammer states that “Moonchild” is loosely based on the Aleister Crowley novel of the same name.

The are two solos in this song the first solo is played by Adrian Smith, the second by Dave Murray.

This was to be the last album that Adrian Smith recorded with band until his return in 1999.
