The minor pentatonic scale is a five note scale similar to the mminor scale but without the fourth and seventh scale degrees. The minor pentatonic scale formula is 1, 2, 3, 5, 6. This scale is most commonly broken up into five minor pentatonic positions as shown in the diagrams below. The minor pentatonic scale shares the same notes as it’s relative major counterpart so although the diagrams might seem familiar it’s important to take note of where the root notes differ for the minor pentatonic positions as opposed to major pentatonic
